Homewood Flossmoor HS Senior in the event of a crash after a prom: School

Flossmoor, IL-EI Senior of the Homewood Flossmoor High School, was killed in an accident early Sunday morning, shortly after the school's prom, said the school community.

Tom Mya Lyons died in the crash, said Carla Erdy, director of communication and community engagement, in the announcement. Another student confirmed that she had participated in the prom earlier.

“With the permission of Tom Mya's mother, we share this news with the HF family to ensure that you know this tragic loss and support for students and employees,” wrote Erdy.

“Each of us will react to Tom Mya's death in our own way, and we have to respect each other,” says Earth's termination. “Feeling sad is a normal reaction to a loss. Some of us may not have known them very well and may not be so affected, while others may experience a lot of sadness. Your death can also lead to feelings that have lost relatives. These feelings of sadness, confusion, even trouble in waves and forward.”

The community reacted to the news on Sunday evening and went to social media to share shock and comfort.

“These are terrible news,” wrote a commentator. “The worst nightmare of a parent. My condolences to family and friends and the teachers of the students.”

“I am a broken heart for the family of this young woman,” wrote another. “I was at the HF final ball last night. It is difficult to imagine that a night full of joy and happiness in such a tragedy for a family and an entire community could really end.”

Members of the crisis team are available to the students. The support will be available in all classes of the student on Monday and Tuesday, Earthy wrote.

Students who need help are asked to contact the school hangers Jocelyn Cowan at jcowan@hf233.org or Dani van Vilet at dvanvilet@hf233.org. The school consultant Rockeya Wilson can also be reached at rwilson@hf233.org.

The school's “A Night of Enchanted Elegance” took place on Saturday from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m. in the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago

Patch is working on checking the location of the crash, which was not immediately known until Sunday evening.
