Revolutionary bracelet is entering the Lépine competition

The Lépine competition, a 124-year event, is known for its secret inventions. At the Paris trade fair, almost 250 inventors enter the spotlight and hope to achieve a prize that could lead to visibility and success. Among the competitors is the engineer David Shayon and his startup smartlet, creator of an innovative bracelet that can record two watches: an analog and a digital.

Mix elegance with modern technology

Do you fancy Apple Watch, Google Pixel or Samsung Galaxy, but can't your Rolex separate? Fear not! The bracelet developed by David Shayon, an alumnus of Central Supélec and Insead, enables them to wear two watches at the same time. “Some people wear two watches, others do without one … but how do they combine the timeless elegance of the old world mechanisms with the groundbreaking power of modern technology, without affecting one for the other?” Says Watch enthusiast and horologist David Ohayon and explains his invention.

In order to bring innovations, elegance and versatility together, Smartlet designed a modular bracelet made of stainless steel, which can absorb both a classic watch and a smartwatch, with one above and the other under the wrist is positioned. The developed system with which you can fold and exclude watches as required is patented. However, the design only enables one watch, for example during training – only the smartwatch is required to pursue performance, or with an ambassador of an ambassador – where an analog clock improves elegance.

Versatility and compatibility

The smartlet bracelet in a set, which is available in May on Kickstarter in May in May, weighs and only costs 90 grams (9 mm thick) and costs 350 euros (299 euros during the start). It fits all metal watches with a width of 20 mm or 22 mm. For smartwatches, Smartlet is compatible with Apple Watch (except Ultra), the Pixel watches from Google (41 mm) and models from Garmin, Huawei and Xiaomi. Of course, links can be added or removed as required.

It remains to be seen whether wearing Smartlet and the two watches it supports will be comfortable or practical. Does the watch interfere under the wrist when bending your hand? And what about the risk of scratching the dial of this watch if it is at a table or desk, especially when typing on a computer? These are certainly aspects that the jury of the Lépine competition must evaluate exactly.
