Inoue has not fought in the United States since 2021 when he defeated Michael Dasmariñas in the third round to keep the WBA (Super Bantamweight), IBF and the Ring Bantamweight title.

The last 24 fights of Inoue were all championship fights, the first in April 2014.

Cardenas has won 14 consecutive fights and positioned itself for this fight what his first world championship title will be. He achieved a unanimous decision against Bryan Acosta on February 25th.
