Charity organization Hospice, which promotes open discussions about death and dying

Charity organizations and NHS partners in Salisbury and broader Wiltshire are merging to promote discussions about death, dying and grief.

The initiative is part of the dying matters of the awareness week, which runs from 5 to May 11th with the topic “The culture of dying affairs”.

The aim is to examine how different communities and cultures in Great Britain deal with death and dying and what combines them in this experience.

Gill May, Chief Nursing Officer in Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board said: “It is not always easy to speak openly about death, especially with friends and relatives, but this helps to remove the stigma that is too often associated with this inevitable and incredible part of life.

“Open discussions in which individuals express their wishes for dying should be a normal part of our daily life, and we are pleased that so many resources are now available on site that can offer support to facilitate these important discussions.”

The Salisbury Hospice works together with the Banes, Swindon and Wiltshire integrated care system to provide resources and events.

The charity organization Hospiz organizes a number of events throughout the entire sensitization week of the dying matters, including a mourning café.
