Detectives from the murder area of ​​Lagos State Police Command arrested the main suspect in connection with the murder of 65-year-old Jane Okoye.

According to a statement published on Sunday by Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident took place on April 2, 2025 in the state of the state.

Hundeyin showed that preliminary investigations entered the suspect Abubakar Iliyasu on the victim's residence and had relegated with her Toyota Sienna vehicle. The victim was discovered unconscious and brought to a medical facility, where it unfortunately died.

He added: “After the transfer of the case to the state criminal investigation department (SCID), Yaba, due to discrete and thorough inquiries, a team of murder detectives immediately dealt with and use both secret services and technical resources to capture the suspect and to regain stolen property.”

Thanks to their efforts, Detective Iliyasu successfully pursued – who had fled with the vehicle and other things of the deceased – according to Ankpa in the state of Kogi. He was then arrested and the vehicle recovered in good condition, now secured as proof of the ongoing examination.

The suspect is currently being recorded in the Scid in Yaba, Lagos state, where he works with investigators.

In response to the development, the police commissioner of Lagos, Olohundare Jimoh, assured the public that the suspect was brought to court about the conclusion of the investigation.

He also emphasized that Lagos State Police Command is still obliged to protect life and property throughout the state.
