Man who is accused

Years after the death of his wife during the kayaking, a man was accused of murder and tried to claim more than $ 1 million in life insurance.

The 55 -year -old Graeme Davidson, who now lives in Thailand, was charged with his wife Jacqueline's death.

Ms. Davidson, 54, drowned in kayaking with her husband at Lake Samsonvale north of Brisbane in November 2020.

It could not be revived when they returned ashore and despite spectators and emergency services that performed CPR, died on site.

Her death was considered a random drowning.

However, the police investigations for a report to the forensic doctor discovered further evidence and a murder examination was started after her death “18 months to two years”.

“The police claim that the male person was involved in drowning in the lake,” Steve Windsor Steve Windsor told reporters on Monday.

Under Operation Victor Harlow, detectives collected witness and expert statements, including information about the conditions of the lake at the time of the death of Ms. Davidson.

The “complex and lengthy” probe led to Davidson tried after his arrest in Brisbane on Sunday for murder, fraud and fraud.

“The cause of death drowned, but it was a case to speak to witnesses and to gain further evidence that the matter seemed suspicious,” said Insp Windsor.

“Incidents are not always what they are looking at at first, so I thank the detective for their hardworking work in this lengthy and tedious examination.”

Insp. Windsor said the married couple lived together, but the police would “give some form of collapse in the relationship” at the time of Ms. Davidson's death.

He said the police said that Davidson had raised a life insurance claim and tried to do another after the death of his wife, which confirmed that they refer to the fight against fraud.

“The combined life insurance was more than 1 million US dollars,” said Insp Windsor.

“They were quite extensive.”

He said Davidson had lived in Thailand for a “number of years” and asked the police to discuss the delivery.

But Insp. Windsor said the police chose “this way” and instead stood at Davidson when he visited Brisbane for family reasons.

Davidson was denied the deposit of the police and his matter went on Monday in front of the magistrate Court of Brisbane.

He did not appear in court and was taken into custody after his matter had been postponed until May 19.
