Better Men Society honors the late co -founder

Jackson, Miss. (Wlbt) -Robert Davis, the co -founder of Better Men Society, had a vision of helping young boys to become great men.

But after he was shot by William Polo Edwards in 2022, those in the organization introduced this goal for him three years after his death.

Chris Cooper was a co -founder of Better Men Society with Davis. He said: “He came up in a broken community. He was an ex -Vice lord that was general in this community, so he was a leader. Then he became a leader for Jesus Christ. He changed his life and said: 'I have to get my boys -the same boys that I led in the right direction.' So that was his hope – to bring everyone to the top of Jesus Christ.

The Better Men Society is an organization that aims to drive boys and young men into role models for their community. After Davis was murdered in a house in Clinton by William Polo Edwards in 2022, Cooper continued the work that she started together.

“He knew it wasn't [going to] give up. I had the same heart and the same passion he did. And I think that at the moment he is proud of all of us that he came together today. You know, I only keep his dream in life, ”said Cooper.

Dozens of Jackson residents came to the event.

Mitzie Proctor with anointed soldiers for Christ believes that the work of the better male society is rooted in Christ.

She said: “I always like to support Christian events and you know that I like to support people who do something divine for their community.”

Proctor spoke on the way how Davis did his job and prioritized measures.

“I see it as an honor and the privilege to know him. Not only that, but to know that in his whole character it was done right with him not only to say it, but actually go for a walk and talk to speeches. And it is again a privilege to keep your legacy going,” she said.

Davis made a new life by pulling himself out of the crime and helping and improving the community.

“He led as a man. He led his community as a man to show us instructions [those who had no] Direction. He said, “If you hang around me long enough [you’ll] Find direction … 'He did so much. He was a gospel rapper. He was a minister. He wrote three children's books. He read his students at school, ”said Cooper.

William Polo Edwards found guilty in his role in his first degree at the end of 2024. Better Men Society will continue to offer services in the community to stop the violence of weapons.
