“I'll suffocate you.” The video shows the actions of the MPs who lead to a fatal arrest

West Jefferson, NC (WBTV)-Never seen before, shows the moments of a traffic stop that led to a man died.

Stuart Chad Mast died on September 13, 2024 after he had been arrested and arrested by MPs at the Sheriff's Office of the Ashe County.

An autopsy ruled Mast's death as a murder; The medical examiner decided that he had died by suffocation.

Outside the autopsy, details remained sparse about what led to mast arrest.

Nick Ochsner, Chief Investigative Reporter of the WBTV, filed a petition in court to publish a video about mast arrest. A petition rejected by Sheriff Phil Howell.

The video shows the MPs who stop mast and then quickly pull it off his motorcycle when he tried to lure a security cable that was attached to its vest.

Because he was pulled out of his bike with the hook that was still paved, the vest remained inflated when he fell on the floor with MPs.

The video shows a MP who said Mast: “I'll choke you, you hear me?”

It is not clear which representative freed the threat. Cody Call, Jacob Bledsoe and Jacob Pruitt were the three MPs whose video was published by the arrest.

Chad Mast's brother, Mike Mast, sat down with WBTV after a judge had ordered a video of the fatal arrest in public.

“If he competed against three astronauts or three construction workers, he would not be dead. He went against three of her MPs and he is dead,” said Mast. “And nobody can tell me why.”

Mast and his family have been pushing answers since the death of their relatives in September. They only received details of what happened until the court application was submitted to publish the video.

“I say to everyone who takes the time to listen to me, you know that it's not a transparent thing,” he said. “You know it's so frustrating.”

Sheriff Howell throws transparency as an important priority of his agency.

“You don't talk to you, you don't tell you anything,” said Mast about his experiences with Howell about the death of his brother.

“They only wear this stress, and the mammas wear this stress and the sister wears this stress. And all people who know him only throw up their hands. They don't know what to do. But it's not transparent.”

Howell did not respond to several detailed questions about this incident sent by e -mail.

Mast said that he is now hoping that it will lead to justice for his brother.

“I just want the accountability to be held,” you know? “You just can't go around, kill people because you have a badge.”

On Friday, the prosecutor announced the fatal arrest that a Grand jury rejected it to file charges against the members involved.

Personnel records created by Howell's office show that none of the three MPs were exposed to disciplinary measures after the fatal incident.
