Farming girl killed and woman in the interstate 49 accident near Goodman injured

A 1-year-old girl from Joplin was killed and a 22-year-old woman was injured on May 3, 2025 at Interstate 49 in McDonald County in a two-vehicle accident.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 5:55 p.m. in the 16.2 mile mark, about a mile south of Goodman. The traffic towards the south had stopped on the street due to an animal when a Honda chord from 2012 hit the back of a towing unit attached to a 2025 freight liner Cascadia.

The child, a passenger in the Honda, was properly held back, but suffered fatal injuries. It was transported to Freeman Neosho by the staff of the McDonald County, where she died at 6.43 p.m.

The driver of the Honda, a 22-year-old woman from Joplin, suffered minor injuries and was brought to Freeman West in Joplin by Ems. Both occupants wore seat belts.

The driver of the Freightliner, a 55-year-old man from Laurinburg, North Carolina, was not injured.

The Honda suffered the total damage and was towed by Gardner's towing. The Freightliner had minor damage and was driven out of the scene.

This is the 34th death of the troop D of 2025. The soldiers were supported by McDonald County -Notfallperson, the Goodman Fire Department and other patrol units.
