Easy in spring activities to avoid spring injuries

Green Bay, Wis. (Wbay) – Spring is there, and with more days with warm weather, many of us come back to do things outside and move more.

Doctors want them to introduce themselves into outdoor activities and take steps to prevent frequent injuries that appear at this time of year.

Regardless of whether it is the golf course or the pickleball square, walking in the neighborhood or cycling on a way, it doesn't take much to sprain, effort and persistent pain to appear.

We have with Dr. Alec Wilhelmi spoken, a doctor for sports doctors in the House of basic care at Aurora Healthcare.

He sees many sprains – for example with pickle ball, they are ankles and knees. A misstep is everything it needs, no matter what activity you do.

Dr. Wilhelmi suggests cross-training for all of us when we do things outside again.

For example, that means a hiking routine.

Work up and try to condition you and strengthen your muscles. This will help prevent an injury.

When you are injured, you will see a doctor sooner than later.

“I always tell people, the earlier, the better, because we can really help them. What exactly causes the symptoms? And we can adapt their rehab or your training program so that we tackle the problems you have so that we can tackle them before they may lead to another injury that may be more important,” said Dr. Wilhelmi.

He used the example of professional athletes. You do a lot of cross training to prepare for a game. It is a great way to prevent an injury.

It is so important to move, stretch and to do it. Your body will thank you.
