The White House shows picture of Trump as a Pope dressed

play

Washington – The White House on Friday published a picture of President Donald Trump as a Pope on X and triggered both counter -reactions and glee on social media.

After Trump had jokingly informed the reporters at the beginning of this week that he wanted to be the next leader of the Roman Catholic Church after the death of Pope Francis. “That would be a choice,” he said at the time.

The picture shows that Trump is dressed in a white garment with a papal hat and a necklace with a cross hanging around the neck. He sits up on a chair with his index finger.

The picture was also shared on Friday via Trump's social and Instagram accounts from Trump.

The Republicans against Trump Account shared the photo on X with the heading: “Donald Trump has just posted a photo of himself as a Pope. At that time it is full of madness.”

Another user wrote on X: “I'm not an American. I am not even a Catholic. But as a person I am insulted beyond this picture and that someone in the White House actually decided to publish this. Adults!”

But it produced a few laughs online.

“Trump !!” A user wrote with a laughing emoji on X. “Evil.”

Francis died on Monday, April 21, at the age of 88. He suffered from a stroke and heart failure, said the Vatican doctor Andrea Arcangeli in one last week published death certificate, reported Reuters. Trump later took part in his funeral.

The process of selecting a new pope includes a papal conclave, a private choice behind the closed doors of the Sistine chapel of the Vatican City, in which 135 cardinals will vote on who will act next as head of the Catholic Church. The papal conclave is set for May 7th.
