Baton Rouge Police Murder Detectives examine a shootout with civil servants that took place early Sunday morning.

At 3:04 a.m., BRPD uniformed officers reacted to shipping, a disorder with an armed male suspect in the Super 6 Inns and Suites in the 9901 Gwenaden Ave.

There the officers came across a 34-year-old man in the parking lot. There was a change of shooting between men and officers. The man was hit during the encounter and taken to a local hospital where he was died, reports BRPD.

No officials were injured during this incident.

In accordance with the Standard -BRPD directive, the two officials involved in the shootout were put into administrative leave, says BRPD.

In the past, the Louisiana State Police BRPD officer has examined shootings to provide independent supervision, but the shootout on Sunday morning will remain an internal examination, said Lt. L'Ean McKney Jr., a spokesman for BRPD.

Sometimes we ask for help and sometimes we don't, he said.
