4 months later, Nintendo sued Switch 2 Lecks

Nintendo officially follows one of the companies who gave eager fans 2 weeks before his official unveiling an early look at the switch. In a lawsuit submitted at the weekend, Nintendo accuses the Tech Accessoire manufacturer Genki to violate his brand, false advertising and wrongly presented a warm relationship with the Japanese gaming giant.

In a complaint submitted on May 2 in the Central District of California, Nintendo claims that Genki had already committed a strategic campaign in December 2024 to use the public interest in Nintendo's next generation. “Registration claims that Genki had granted a unique access to a Switch 2 console and was able to produce accessories for the console that was not yet announced at the time. In a statement, the submission” contradictory and inconsistent “was that the accessory company never had a switch 2 console.

“It would not be possible to ensure the compatibility of the defendant's accessories if the accused has access to a Nintendo Switch 2 console or for proprietary technical specifications, of which Nintendo is not made available and/or authorized to be made available to the accused,” says the registration.

Weeks before Nintendo unveiled the Switch 2, several companies, including Genki, unveiled its accessories for the upcoming console.

The complaint also means that Genki either incorrectly advertised that it has created a product that is based on the complete specifications of its upcoming console, or that it had access to the console with illegal means.

The lawsuit contains interactions that share the brand's Twitter account with the Gamestop CEO, Ryan Cohen, in the hope of sharing information about the upcoming switch 2 accessories. It also presents a preview blum of the CES 2025 exhibition page, in which Genki determines that it is “happy to discuss switch 2 information that we may have if we make things for it” as well as a selection of media interviews and the company's reporting at the annual event.

Vice versa I had the chance to handle the 3D printed mock-up for the Switch 2 on the CES 2025 and even interview the CEO of Genki, Edward Tsai, about their plans for the upcoming handheld. At that time, Tsai told us that it was never intended to spoil the unveiling for Switch 2.

“We love Nintendo,” said Tsai to Vice versa at the time. “We don't want to steal your thunder, but I think the software, the games will be the biggest.”

Tsai also informed us that the designs for Genki's accessories were based on specifications that were already leaked because everything on the console was pretty much outside.

While they will be involved in the lawsuit in the coming months, Tsais rings statements at that time. Genki was far from the first source that looks what Nintendo's console would look like. Other accessory companies from third-party providers such as Dbrand and numerous leaks in China delivered even earlier views of the handheld. It is possible that Nintendo's lawsuit against Genki may only be the beginning.

Genki and Tsai did not immediately respond to inquiries about comments. However, it divided an explanation of X that the lawsuit “works seriously and with the legal advisor in order to answer thoughtfully”.

“Genki has always been an independent company that focused on building innovative gaming accessories for the community,” says the explanation. “We are proud of the work we have done and are the quality and originality of our products.”

Nintendo was particularly in dispute for the last time. It is currently in the middle of a lawsuit against the Pocket couple from Palworld developer, as it provides in a similar way, as is the case with creatures with throwing balls. It also stuck the emulation for its consoles.
