Friend of the man who was killed in Lexington talks about his life

Lexington, Ky. (WKYT) Monday was the last day for 40-year-old Mia White, who is charged with the death of 24-year-old Elmer Joseph Eldridge.

White joined the indictment when her plea had occurred and she asked for a change in her bond.

The police said the shootout occurred on Friday in Newtown Pike near West Third Street, but Eldridge died of his injuries in a local hospital.

White's arrest quotation said that White and Eldridge were in a relationship and White admitted that I had shot Eldridge several times.

She was charged with murder (domestic violence) and brought to the Fayette County internment camp.

The relatives of White and Eldridge were in the judicial building of the district in Fayette County, since a non -guilty plea for white had occurred.

Eldridge friend Stacey Shannon said everyone knew him as a zookie.

“We recently had a fire, and Zookie was the one who was the big, thin person who could climb the steps to get to the people on our third and fourth floor to help people get out of there. He was a loving, caring friend, father, brother that everyone is lost and he is not coming back,” said Shannon.

She said she was broken with a broken heart for Eldridge's young daughter and her mother.

“She takes it difficult because her one -year -old baby is now grown up without daddy,” she said. “Everyone, let us lay down this gun, people. They take too many lives out of these weapons and it is not fair.”

White will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on May 14 on May 14th.
