BC, Alberta forest fires that trend upwards while dry environments are

The recent heat and persistent dry conditions in BC and parts of the prairie have led to an increase in forest fires and the overall threat of additional bubbles in the past few weeks.

So far, Canada burned 11,728 hectares of land in 2025, and 756 active forest fires across the country. Most of the ongoing blades are located in BC and Alberta. Manitoba also sees some forest fires, including a large grass fire that destroys several houses in Peguis First Nation.

BC:

From Monday, May 5th, at 7 p.m. EDT, there will be 44 active forest fires in BC, seven of which have been inflamed in the past 24 hours. So far, 159 blazes have been started this year, which have burned more than 1,550 hectares.

“We ask people to carry out open burns with an increased risk of fire during this time. Please check your local weather forecast before starting open burning again this spring,” said BC Wildfire Service on his website.
