2nd crime scene found in the building, in which the Chicago police have been shining in front of another CPD shooting knife swinging man

Two separate shootings with the Chicago police were reported early Monday morning in the south side early Monday morning.

There were also two separate crime scenes in the assisted care facility, in which one of the police shootings took place.

At around 3:15 a.m., the civil office for police responsibility reacted to a shootout with an off-service-free Chicago police officer in Grand Regency of Jackson Park Supportive Living, a coached shared apartment in 1448 E. 75th St. in the Grand Crossing neighborhood.

The Chicago police said shortly before 3 a.m., the officials responded to a call to a person with a butcher knife that threatened the residents. The police said the officers confronted the armed man and used taser to submit him.

The police said when the Taser failed and he continued to approach the officials with a knife in his hand, and the officials then opened the fire and hit him.

He was declared dead at the crime scene and the police said that a knife had been recovered.

A few hours later, the police said around 6:30 a.m. that a 58-year-old man was no longer responded in a unit in the facility for assisted living. The police said the man had cuts on their arm and neck and was also declared dead at the scene.

The police will not confirm whether the two crime scenes are connected.

The police have not yet published any further information about the two men and would not say whether they know each other or were connected in any way.

The facility is advertised online as a program for adults between the ages of 22 and 64 with physical disabilities that require help to maintain their independence.

A neighbor who has lived in the facility for assisted living for two years said she heard that people are constantly arguing there – and it starts to be a scary place to live.

“I don't feel safe,” said Maxine Johnson. “I'm afraid all the time.”

CBS News Chicago turned to the facility for assisted living, which indicated that they work with the police in their investigations and work for the support of their residents and employees in this difficult time.

The officials involved in the shootout are placed in routine administrative tasks during the examination of COPA.
