A crash with several vehicles sent three people to the hospital and brought traffic to a crawl on the I-40 in Raleigh on the I-40 on Monday evening.

According to the Raleigh police department, the crash occurred at 8:23 p.m. around the Hammond Road and the South Saunders Street outcome of the Interstate.

The police said a false driver caused the crash when they hit another driver head -on and they are not sure how the driver got into the wrong way.

Three people were sent to the hospital and the status of their injuries is unknown.

The police said a lane was open to traffic in the west and examined the crash.
