Kim Minjae opens up on persistent injury struggles

Kim Minjae has been playing pain for months, whereby Bayern Munich -defender was fighting against a continuing Achilles tendon problem.

Although the South Korean international has received occasional breaks, he often had to enforce the discomfort for his team. Most recently, he was replaced in the 3-0 victory of Bavaria against Mainz at halftime when the pain became unbearable.

In an interview with the Korean broadcaster Leestar TV (via TZ), Kim opened his continuing fights.

“The problem of the Achilles tendon is still there, but I'm examining my teeth. The eyes are closed and just pushed through,” he said.

While Kim was criticized for his achievements this season, he refuses to use his Achilles problems as an excuse.

“Errors, injuries or too many games – that could only be excuses,” he said.

“I still have to stay concentrated. This is my job. In the end I should have played better.”
