Scottish hospitals have almost 1,200 wastewater leaves in just five years

The numbers were discovered by the Scottish Lib.

In the past five years, almost 1,200 wastewater leaves have been recorded in Scottish hospitals.

NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde was the health authority with the most spills, followed by NHS Lanarkshire.

The Scottish lib-Dem leader Alex Cole Hamilton Leader: “The health care staff have enough on their plate without dealing with stinking wastewater accumulation at their workplace.

“I hope that Health Boards will be able to assure assurances that these problems have been tackled and will not be returned.

“If the budgets are tight, improving the facilities and even fundamental maintenance can fall.

“The Scottish Liberal Democrats are obliged to deliver a quick, local health care for everyone in the highlands. This means investing in the facilities to which patients and employees rely on to ensure that they are expedient and do not carry out unpleasant surprises.”

According to numbers that were published under Freedom of Information, eight health relationships have recorded Leck.

These were Ayrshire & Arran, Fife, Forth Valley, Grampian, Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Highland, Lanarkshire and Lothian.

There were 308 incidents in Glasgow Royal Infirmary, 171 at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital of the city, 12 in the Strathed in Cupar and the same number at Aberdeens Royal Cornhill.

Of the 1,197 wastewater for hospitals since 2019, 761 have been in the NHSGGC area and 342 in Lanarkshire.

Details were recently reported on wastewater leaves in the Raigmore A&E in the highlands.

The incidents included wastewater outflows in a “contamination area” and a crowded doctor.
