Tesla met Fair, the owners believe that crash was politically motivated

Baton Rouge – A family is looking for a driver who met her Tesla for a church fair on Saturday evening and believes that the incident is politically motivated.

Tesla owner Jose Mendoza said his family was back to the car after an evening for the Mercy. Her car, a blue Tesla, was sitting in the parking lot with just a few other vehicles.

“I approached my car when I saw a jeep near my car, I really didn't think about it too much. Then I saw him up again,” said Mendoza.

In security videos, the red jeep drove past the blue car before he stopped and supported himself. The jeep in the video took another break before he reversed and met the Tesla. Mendoza said he was running after the jeep, but could not take any clear pictures of the license plate.

Mendoza looked at the video and said the goal looked intended and he believes that the car may have been targeted because it was a Tesla.

“You know, the only thing I can imagine is the political climate. I mean, at that time I can not imagine any other reason why someone would do it,” said Mendoza.

In March, the Internet Crime Complaint Center published a PSA in which the FBI Tesla owner recommends vigilance when the cars and dealers were targeted. The PSA said nine different states reported incidents such as arson, shots and vandalism.

“Just be on the hat around the clock, you never know. That was shortly after a fair and you know? We only had a good time. There were really no red flags,” said Mendoza.

Wbrz turned to BRPD, which did not comment on this special incident, said that the department did not record any increase in crime complaints on Tesla vehicles.
