Greenock Oap 'still worriedly sick' when ceiling 'neighbors with shower' stops'

A Greenock pensioner says she is still waiting for her landlord to repair a leak that now keeps her older neighbor with her shower.

In April, the Telegraph reported on how Isabella McFarlane, which lives in John House Shelted Housing Complex, has been waiting for six months that it has been reported no less than seven times no less than seven times no less than seven times since November 2024.

The water that had thoroughly streamed the light at the top and the sometimes blind pensioner does not leave any other option than to use a flashlight when they go to the toilet at night.

Isabella, 81, had to submit a complaint to River Clyde Homes (Image: George Munro) The leak comes from a broken shower shell in the apartment over Isabella and the 81-year-old says that the problem is now forcing its older neighbors to use the municipal showers of the complex.

According to RCH, a permanent solution was delayed, while the contractors are waiting for several spare parts. However, these repair work is carried out as soon as possible.

Isabella is now hoping that workers who arrived in their neighbor's apartment yesterday can connect the leak once and for all.

According to our previous history, Isabella said that she and John Galt House Guard had hoped that the problem was determined when there were no further leaks since April 17th.

But Isabella's hopes were destroyed when the water flocked through the hole in her ceiling again when her neighbor used the shower without being aware of the problem.

Isabella said to The Tele: “It was a nice day, and other women sat out in the garden, so I sat out a bit out there. It wasn't more than 15 minutes.

“When I came back, I couldn't believe it. The water flowed in again.”

After Isabella had been in the hospital six times last year with gallbladder problems and for eye operations, Isabella said when the problems with her bathroom did everything “so much more difficult”.

She added: “I have to take medication for depression, and that doesn't help.”

The 81-year-old plans to go to Stornoway in a few weeks to visit her family, but she admits that she is “worried” to leave her apartment in the event of further leaks.

She says if repairs are not completed before the date on which she should travel to Stornoway, she cannot be able to meet the latest member of her family to be born in the coming days.

She added: “I said to my niece that I may have to cancel the vacation if it is not fixed.

“I am afraid that the water will flow up again and again.

“My nephew has a key and says he can visit every morning, but he could come back in the next day and it could be flooded.

“You would think it would be easy to repair, but now you say that you have to wait for parts and whistles so that I don't know how long it will take.”

After submitting a complaint, Isabella received a letter from RCH that states that her complaint is dealt with as part of the involvement of the complaint as part of the first stage, and that an answer to the problem is delivered by Thursday, May 8th.

A spokesman for River Clyde Homes said: “As already mentioned, this is an ongoing repair that was inevitably delayed when we wait for several spare parts.

“We took steps to isolate the shower to ensure that no further leaks take place in the meantime.

“We understand the disorder caused completely and will make sure that the installation is completed as a priority after the parts arrival.

“We will continue to keep the affected residents up to date on the schedule for this work and apologize for the inconvenience.”
