A driver was seriously injured on the US Highway 1 near the May Street in Southern Pines.

Rescue workers at the crime scene said that a pickup truck driver had to be in a trauma center after the crash, which took place shortly before midnight.

The pickup was the only vehicle that was involved in the accident, but was rolled several times, according to officials.

The driver was transported by the scene with an ambulance to a landing zone to meet a UNC helicopter.

A trail towards the north of US 1 and a trail towards the south was blocked by deposits from this accident.
