Woman killed, man injured after she was shot on Detroit's east side

DETROIT – A woman was found dead and a man was injured after a shootout in Detroit early Tuesday morning.

The shootout occurred in a house in the Pinewood Road near 7 miles and Schoenherr around 4 a.m. on May 6, 2025.

When the police arrived at the scene after receiving a report about several shots in the area, they were approached by a man who got out of the house with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital and it is expected to be in order.

Captain John Stewart from the Detroit police authority said when the officials carried out their investigation, they found a woman in the 20s who fatally shot in the house. He said the suspect, which was involved in the shootout, drove away from the scene.

Stewart noted that there was a combination of legs from the inside and outside the house.

He said nobody was in custody and the examination has not yet been completed.
