To sue family after Florida has killed MPs in his own house – NBC 6 Südflorida

The prominent civil rights lawyer Ben Crump says that he will submit a lawsuit against the deputy of the former sheriff in Florida and others to shoot the death of 23-year-old US senior plane Roger Forton in May 2024.

The former deputy of the Sheriff of Okaloosa County, Eddie Duran, Schoss and killed Fortson, who was black, at the door of Fortons apartment. Duran has not guilty the homicide. This criminal proceedings are pending.

Fortson grew up in Atlanta and joined the Air Force in 2019, where he completed the high school.

The apartment complex in which Fortson lived is about 13 kilometers from Hurlburt Field. It was assigned to the 4th Special Operations Squadron as a Special Mission Aviator, where one of his roles was to load the 30 mm and 105 mm weapons of a weapon ship.

His death was a growing list of murders of blacks by law enforcement authorities in their own houses. It also renewed the debate about Florida's “Stand Your Ground” setting.

What is the status of criminal proceedings against Duran?

The case is in the hearing phase before the hearing, with a hearing to be determined for applications for May 20. Duran is in prison bond.

Who is Ben Crump?

The 55-year-old Crump is a well-known black lawyer in Tallahassee, Florida, who worked on numerous top-class civil law cases and illegal deaths. His cases included those in which other blacks were involved in law enforcement authorities, including Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and Michael Brown.
