Trooper Steve asked about the Autobahn stack. Watch a video to see his explanation

Orlando, Fla. -News 6 Traffic Safety Expert Trooper Steve Montiero answers the viewer questions about the rules of the street and helps to become better drivers to become better drivers by being better trained.

Trooper Steve was asked on Tuesday after a recently occurring motorway accident when a driver missed an exit and continued on the street.

“Did you see the video of the Ohio driver, which caused this stack and left the scene? Can they be held liable,” the viewer asked.

Let me make something very clear at first: I am not a lawyer. But I am someone who has seen the worst worst when it comes to crashes, and I am talking about a place where I want to prevent a tragedy and has not assigned any legal guilt.

When I saw the video of this crash from Ohio, my stomach turned. It immediately reminded me of one of the worst crashes that I answered here in central florida.

On the Florida Turnpike, a driver missed his outcome and decided to travel the other way around on the highway to get it back. A semi -truck that drove about 70 miles per hour banged into him from behind. The car broke out on fire, and tragically the driver was killed because of impact.

This memory has stayed with me over the years.

As for the Ohio Minivan driver, she narrowly escaped death. But what they left behind was a chain reaction that could have been slightly fatal.

If I were the answering soldier in this scene, you can bet that the driver's actions document as a contributory factor, especially with clear video evidence that could easily turn into a criminal investigation.

Let us make something clear that, to be honest, we should never explain: Under no circumstances should you get a full stop in an active travel trail if your car is still mobile.

If you have a medical or mechanical emergency, pull off the street. If you miss your exit, continue to the next. Turn over, stop or drive the other way around on a motorway is never the solution.

Why? The only result you set up is potentially catastrophic.

I share this to shape anyone, but because I saw the consequences. I stood on these streets, saw the mutilated cars and looked into the eyes of families who have just lost someone they loved. Trust me when I say it is not worth it.
