Mark Gordon to represent himself in resumption about the death of the baby with Constance Marten

A father who was accused of representing his newborn daughter in winter with Aristocrat Constance Marten in winter with the retrial about the child's death, as a dish heard.

Juels of the old Bailey were announced on Tuesday that Mark Gordon's former lawyer John Femi-Ola KC and his junior Jodie-Jane Hitchcock had “withdrawn” from the case and that the defendant decided for himself.

Mr. Gordon will submit the questions he would like to ask the judge in writing during the procedure.

Judge Lucraft asked the jury to return on Wednesday if Ms. Marten should continue to give evidence and added: “This morning Mr. Femi-Ola and Ms. Hitchcock are not present in court because they have withdrawn and go forward, and that Mr. Gordon has decided to represent himself.

Ms. Marten, 37, and Mr. Gordon (50) deny both homicide and cause or cause the death of her daughter Victoria in January 2023, whose birth she hid after her four other children were removed from their care.

The public prosecutor claims that the parents had temporarily used a red Lidl bag for life to wear the newborn when they fled from the authorities before their later death, due to hypothermia or “grossly negligent co-sheeping” when they stored south in the south.

The couple avoided that their fifth child was removed in the middle of a top -class police hunt after the missing baby. Ms. Marten claimed that her other children were “stolen from the state,” the old Bailey heard before.

On Friday, Ms. Marten gave evidence and Tom Godfrey, who was the junior lawyer in her defense team with Francis Fitzgibbon KC as a leading silk, asked the question that asked his clients questions.

Judge Lucraft told the jury at the beginning of the daily process: “The eagle eyes among them will notice that Mr. Fitzgibbon is not here, and the eagle eyes will see that it will be Mr. Godfrey who will ask further questions from Ms. Marten in the future.

“Please do not deal with the reasons why this happened.”

The mother told the jury that she woke up to find the newborn and pale after she fell asleep in her jacket with her zipper.

When asked if she had reported Victoria's death, Marten said: “At that time I was only … in the films, I don't know that someone dies that they panic and they think my god … I just thought that they would say I was a bad mother, a murderer, something like that.”

She said that she had no confidante to the police to carry out an investigation after “so big media gusty to us”.

Ms. Marten described the situation as the “worst nightmare from which they have ever woken up”.

The decomposing remains of Victoria were later found hidden in a decommissioned allocation shed in a shopping bag filled with garbage.

Last year, the parents were convicted of hiding the birth of the child and pursuing the course of justice in a previous legal proceedings.

The repetition continues.
