Mayor to give update about gear fight – NBC New York

Mayor Eric Adams will later address a recent gang attack on two uniformed NYPD officials on Times Square on Tuesday, since the search for suspects continues in the case.

The police say that over a dozen gang members the police attacked on Friday when the city organized a top -class night of boxing nearby. Some of them were taken into custody, but the NYPD is looking for additional suspects.

According to law enforcement officers, there are some of the alleged gang members, which are believed to be a number of attacks in the central park last summer that were part of a wave of robberies in the center of chaos.

The group is also examined after potential participation in crimes on this latest attack.

The incident occurred on Friday evening, around the same time when the boxing games at the crossroads of the world were underway and were emphasized by the Ryan Garcia Rolly Romero fight.

Monitoring video shows that the suspects apparently turn on the NYPD officers when they try to thwart an obvious attack. The group tries to disturb by hurling bottles and attacking the officials, the police said.

It is believed that some of the suspicious migrants, the members of the Los Diablos 42-Bang-one off-shoot of the Tren de Aragua gang, said law enforcement officers. Some of the suspects lived in migrant accommodation, including one of which the police said that she lives in the Roosevelt Hotel.

Many of the suspects are under the age of 18 – with a young age at the age of 12, the police said. Four suspects were taken into custody, and about seven more searches. The previously arrested, Riot, tried an attack on a police officer and a criminal possession of a weapon.

The police said several of the suspects had arrests for robbery and burglary in previous arrests. A photo from the Midtown district seemed to show at least one teen flash for the camera.

NBC New York does not identify the suspects in the face of their age.

In an explanation, the NYPD said that the attack officers “are not tolerated” and the incident “serves as a strong memory of the dangers with which the NYPD police officers are confronted every day while working on protecting the New Yorkers”. The department attributed the fast work of the detective, which led to arrests a day after the incident, while a search for others, which were assumed that they were involved, was not yet completed.

Adams repeated these feelings in an explanation on Monday before his planned briefing on Tuesday and said: “Let us be clear: We will not tolerate anyone who attacks the symbol of public security in our city.”

The incident takes place after the close combat Jan. 2024, in which a group of migrants attacked the NYPD police officers along the West 42nd Street. This incident was drawn in the heated debate about immigration and sanctuary city politics.

Mayor Adams invited the two officials involved in the incident to meet in the town hall on Monday.
