Two people killed when a small aircraft fell into houses at the Simi Valley at the weekend, was identified on Monday as a 69-year-old man and his 36-year-old son.

Paul Berkovitz from Westlake Village and son Matthew Berkovitz from Thousand Oaks were the only people on board the aircraft when it crashed on Saturday near the intersection of the South Wood Ranch Parkway and the High Meadow Street in the neighborhood of Wood Ranch in Simi Valley.

The Brody family's dog also died at the fiery crash.

The RV-10 of the one-engine van, a popular homemade plane that was sold in KIT form, crashed around 2 p.m. on Saturday and scored two houses and broke out on fire. Wracks was distributed between the two houses, of which a smoke had from the roof.

Details about what caused the crash were part of an examination of the National Transportation Safety Board. It will probably take weeks for the NTSB to publish preliminary results with a final report later.

Peter Knudson, spokesman for NTSB, said, as soon as the aircraft wreck is documented, it will be moved to a secure facility for evaluation.

The investigators will also examine the maintenance records, weather forecasts of the aircraft, the records of all air traffic control communications, testimony, the background of the pilot and all available surveillance videos.

In January, the RV-10 van fell into a warehouse in Fullerton, while the pilot tried to make an emergency landing. The pilot and his teenager daughter were killed and people in the building were injured.

A preliminary report by the NTSB states that the plane had a door -Ajar during the flight.
