Hindutva X campaign goal Iit Gandhinagar, his Muslim students after the Pahangam

An alarming disinformation campaign on X began to aim Muslim students on Iit Gandhinagar, and then escalated the hatred and defamation of the Ambertkarite Reader, the faculty members, the HSS department and the institute as a whole.

At the end of April 2025, a coordinated wave of disinformation on social media platforms and aimed at doctoral students and faculty members, especially Muslim students, was aimed at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) of the Indian Technology Institute for Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN).

It started as a satirical online post from a pseudonymous user. At the center of the X-Posts was a project called “Deepfaith”, which is said to have an Islamic research initiative for AI companies financed by institutional sources and has included Muslim students with “Islamist” tendencies.

According to a MA student (Sie) of the HSS department of the institute, which spoke on the condition of anonymity, it is a coordinated social media attack that incorrectly accused doctoral students in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS).

You have confirmed that no such project called “Deepfaith” is financed by the institute.

According to a report by India Hate Lab (IHL), numerous incidents by Hass speeches against Muslims (including students) were recorded in several states such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar, Himacal Pradesh and Maharashtra between April 23 and 29.

Prominent right -wing extremists, including BJP MLA Nandkishor Gurjar and members of Hindu nationalist organizations, have used inflammatory and dehumanism against Muslims.

They called for social and economic boycotts, encouraged violence and asked Hindus to arm themselves. In various rallies, the speakers spent threats to remove Muslims and increase conspiracy theories that associated the community with Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The X -Hass campaign against Iitgn students also took place in this interval.

How did it start?

The disinformation began with a contribution dated April 28, 2025. A certain post-cherry-Ma-thesis title, which was submitted by Muslim students in Iitns Society and Culture program, and distort them into an invented narrative.

These students were mockingly called “Ayatollah's intellect (KI)”, and their legitimate ethnographic work was renamed as part of a so-called Islamic initiative by AI-based Islamic initiative called “Deep Faith”.

The report assumed that the students were part of a secret, institutionally financed mission to promote Islamic ideologies through technological and academic means.

With this campaign, one of the prominent X takes over a hateful tweet via Kashmiris and called for an internet shutdown in Kaschmir Post-Pahalgam.

Several coordinated contributions soon started the story. Some posts included names, photos and personal social media handles of the students in question.

This was followed by a flood of inflammatory places, many of which demanded the “protection” of Hindu students at IitGN and incorrectly claimed religious indoctrination, ideological police work and institutional prejudices.

A critical turning point in the campaign occurred when an internal department of the HSS -Faculty, which was only intended for students and employees, was leaked outside of the IITGN community.

This e -mail had invited the participants to the final defusions and contained names of students, thesis titles and their superiors.

To remedy the violation, Prof. Nishaant Choksi, a faculty member at Iitgn, distributed another internal e -mail in which she condemned the violation.

He described it for a serious violation of the code of honor, the data ethics and the academic trust of the institute.

Another X -Post claimed that the “Code of Honor” meant that the IitGn faculty monitored ideologically Hindu students.

The IITGN student made Maktoob clear: “The code of honor -reference clearly referred to data ethics and internal confidentiality, not to a religious or ideological discipline.”

They added that the MA in Society and Culture Program is a recognized research-intensive course that encourages students to lead field research on various topics such as religion, identity, livelihood, literature, migration and tradition.

Some of the current theses include ethnographic studies that were carried out in Indian states such as Kerala, Gujarat, West Bengal and Maharashtra. Some of them examine Muslim communities. However, such research is neither unusual nor secret. It falls directly to the scope of globally accepted anthropological research.

They noticed: “All work is ethnographic and do not need AI or another form of technological development.”

Hass campaign and risks faced

Photos of online widespread photos were accompanied by the suggestion of comments, which they characterized as “radicals”, “interns” and “Islamist researchers”.

Calls were made to examine and clean up the department. Faculty members, especially those who were perceived as supportive minority students, were named and displayed with misuse.

“Students and faculty members who are mentioned in the posts receive threats to murder. In addition, they will be exposed to significant obstacles in the future, in particular those who are looking for research grants, international internships or academic trips,” the student pointed out to some relatives with a mactoob.

A explanation recently published by The Abvp Wing of Gujarat criticizes the “cultural insensitivity of IITGN”.

In addition to repeating claims that have raised some X-Handles, reading a book called Riddles of Hinduism as an anti-Hindu. It must be noted that this is a very important work by Dr. BR ambedar is; It is part of the curriculum at Indian universities in courses that aim to build critical thinking about Indian philosophical traditions.

Another X -Post claimed that Iitgn had a department for Islamic studies. The institute does not have such a department. However, it must be noted that books made by Hindus, such as the Gita and Upanishadic texts, are part of the curriculum under departments such as philosophy at the University of Delhi, BHU, etc.

Professor Manish Kumar, Associate Dean and Student Development said with MaktoOB about the X campaign that the faculty, students and researchers generally do a constructive dialogue.

However, a small group of students decided to decide anonymous online posting through their external channels.

The problem with all of this is how Professor Kumar shows, “look at the summary of the thesis defended by the student and at the same time take a look at the art that is published on X. The art is very catchy and becomes aware of this platform, but it is far from the original work.” The connection of the people who are popular on social media with academies in different fields in the fields in the fields, in the fields, in the fields Academics fields in the fields in the fields that are unclear.

He pointed out that an academic committee, a process of presenting work and an evaluation committee with people from several departments for the academic evaluation of the research work. In such a scenario, the demands made by X -Posts are logically no sense. The institute are available several ways to solve academic matters that can be used. For example, the matter could have been raised during the defense, which is open to the student community.
