Five Apple Watch faces are now fully using the improved display of series 10

The Apple Watch Series 10 is the first model that refreshes the second hand, even if the ever-on display is dimmed. In previous models, including the 5 to Series 9 series, only the update by hour and minute when the display is dimmed. At the start, however, only three watch faces supported this new ability.

The first two are river and reflections. Both continue to show seconds, even if the screen is dimmed.

Flux uses a vertically rising line to represent seconds every minute. Reflections offers traditional analog watch hands with a second gip that is switched on on the full screen and ticks once per second when it meets. Reflections are also available in two styles: a full screen layout and a circular version with four complications.

The third is an update for Activity Digital. Since Series 5, this face has contained the option for displaying seconds, but they disappeared beforehand when the display dimmed. In Series 10, the watch face in the death on mode is always updated once per second, so that the digital seconds continue to count in both display states.

Unfortunately, Apple has brought this improved display behavior no other existing watch faces. However, two new faces that have been released since the start of the Apple Watch Series 10 was supported.

The 2025 Unity Rhythm face came with analog hands in January that update seconds and reflections. Most recently, Apple performed the 2025 Pride Harmony Face with Watchos 11.5. It also uses analog hands and supports updates for lightning seconds.

This brings the total number of watches optimized for the Apple Watch Series 10 display to five. In the meantime, more than 40 watch faces still don't use the new hardware. After 10 generations, Apple Watch can finally use the second real-time updates of a basic analog or digital clock-but 90% of the watch faces still do not support this time measurement.

Hopefully Watchos 12 will bring all faces with a matter of seconds. A standard analog clock design with hours of hours around the utility or California deserves this function -especially if Apple does not plan to update each face individually. Every face should use the full functions of the hardware.
