The family of Georgia killed by Florida Deputy, who was killed by Florida

Atlanta, GA. (WRDW/dares) – A well -known lawyer for civil rights and the family of a Georgia plane killed by a deputy Florida submitted a lawsuit against the Sheriff's Office (OCSO) and the former deputy of the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO).

The 23 -year -old Roger Fortson was killed on May 3 by an Ocso member of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The deputy was later identified as Eddie Duran, who was later charged with a firearm due to manslaughter.

The complaint in the lawsuit states that Duran has used excessive and unconstitutional fatal violence when he shot the plane for seconds after opening his door.

The plane answered the door to his apartment as he held a legally owned pistol on the floor. Body Camera Video showed that it was killed within seconds.

According to the investigators, Duran was in response to a domestic fault report in the apartment, which turned out to be wrong.

The Sheriff's office initially claimed that the deputy “reacted in self-defense after he came across a 23-year-old man who was armed with a weapon,” said the Sheriff's office on the shooting day.

The Sheriff of Okaloosa County, Eric Aden, later fired Duran and said his life was never in danger and he should not have fired his weapon.

The indictment for manslaughter is a crime of the first degree, which is punished at up to 30 years in prison.

Duran has not made the indictment guilty.

The lawsuit also claims that the Sheriff department of the Okaloosa district did not properly train and supervise it.

It is also said that the employees of the apartment complex provided misleading information that led to the shootout.

Fortson's family is represented by Ben Crump, a civil rights lawyer who was involved in a number of cases in which the law enforcement murders of Schwarzen, including that of Michael Brown, Breonna Taylor, Tire Nichols and George Floyd, were involved.
