After Western Kentucky Student athletes with a cumulative emergency average of 3.24 set up a sporting department record in autumn, the WKU light athletics shone in NCAA's institutional report on Tuesday with a strong number of points (APR).

The APR offers a real-time view of the academic success of a program every semester by pursuing the academic progress of every student athlete on scholarships. The APR makes up justification, storage and completion and offers a measure of the academic performance of every team. This year the APR score was average of the 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24.

All sports programs of the WKU surpassed minimum and 11 programs of the NCAA exceeded this threshold by 40 points or more.

Four of the WKU programs (women's golf, softball, tennis and volleyball) had a perfect score of 1,000 and six programs (men's cross, men's golf, women's golf, softball, tennis and volleyball) in the academic year 2023-24.

In November it was announced by the NCAA that the WKU had reached its highest final function (GSR) in the program history. WKU recorded a total of 90. In six of the last seven GSR reports, WKU has scored a score of 85 or higher.
