Clearwater Ferry blocks the service after a fatal weekend boat crash

Clearwater, Florida – The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority announced that they were suspended their Clearwater Ferry Service after the death of a person and were injured in a boat accident on Sunday.

The suspension lasts from May 1 to 4.

“Our hearts are victims and families affected, and we repeat our deep gratitude for the first aiders, our crew and other boaters who helped during this tragic event,” says the announcement on social media.

PSTA said security was a top priority.

The city of Clearwater said one person had died and 10 people were injured after the boat accident near the Memorial Causeway Bridge. Six were listed as trauma warnings.

Two of the trauma warnings were flown to the health of Baycare with various mild injuries. At the time of the crash, 44 people were on board the ferry.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said that after the collision with the ferry, the boat captain, who was later identified as Jefry Knight, left the scene and traveled to the Bellair boat ramp. In this case, no fees were submitted.
