“Riggs was more than just a station dog – he was part of our family. We will miss him deeply,” wrote the fire brigade in a Facebook post.

The fire brigade also shared sympathy cards with a fourth grade class at the Bowie Fine Arts Academy.

“Your thoughtful gesture has made a meaningful influence and we deeply appreciate it,” said the fire brigade.
