Vatican City (AP)-A change in the popes through death or resignation is a complicated process in which centuries-old rituals affect the transition of leadership for the spiritual head of the global Catholic Church and for the head of the state of the Vatican.

Who is at the College of Cardinals?

There are 252 cardinals worldwide, and as a body they are responsible for the affairs of the Holy Lake between Popes, albeit with limits.
