Google Mocks leaked the iPhone 17 in a new display

The days in which large manufacturers with bold smartphone designs such as the LG wing and the Samsung Galaxy Beam experiment are long gone. Nowadays, devices are increasingly similar to each other: rounded displays in the front and large camera accommodation in the back. According to Lecks, the iPhone is now closer to Google's popular Pixel series.

We are still months from the iPhone start in September. However, rumors about the upcoming models are increasingly suffocating. Licks are particularly consistent with regard to the design: the biggest change will occur with the camera on the back. Instead of the previous, almost square housing, a camera bar stretches across the entire width of the device. Google sees a clear similarity between the iPhone leaks and its own pixel series, which is known for its broad “camera visers”.

“IPhone 17 LECKS see Google Pixel very similar”

A Google pixel and an iPhone appear repeated in Google's advertisement format “#bestphonesforever” and talk in a podcast style. In the current episode, the two smartphones discuss online rumors about the design of the upcoming iPhone 17 series:

  • pixel: “There are many rumors about the upcoming iPhone new design.”

  • iPhone: “It's crazy. Can you imagine that I did the same thing that you did first – annual tissue later?”

  • pixel: “That sounds very far.”

The news heading in the video “iPhone 17 -Schls look Google Pixel very similar” are a clear allusion to the leaked information about iPhone 17 Air and 17 Pro/Pro Max. In addition, pictures of components have now been published to the public, which further confirms the new design.

Especially the iPhone 17 Air with its thinner camera strip is similar to the Google pixel, as my colleague Marlene Polywka already wrote in February. Those who want to have a clear picture of how similar the devices are can see early demo units in a Chinese business in the video.

Who copied what from whom?

The two smartphones continue to discuss some functions that the Google Pixel first had, which later came to the iPhone later, often years later. Some examples are night mode, widgets and magic eraser. However, it is worth noting that there are also examples of the opposite. Google has taken over Airdrop, satellite SOS and gesture control from the iPhone.

The pixel closes the “podcast” episode with the words: “We all want to remind you that these rumors are just rumors.” Of course, the iPhone then repeats the same sentence to which the pixel reacts with “Oh, come”.

The article Google Mocks first published the iPhone 17 on TechBook in a new advertisement.
