Syracuse Athletics Records Records highest APR point in 4 years – Syracuse University News

Syracuse University Athletics continues to demonstrate its commitment to academic excellence, as shown in the recent publication of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Academic Progress (APR). The university has achieved a score of 989 (out of 1,000)-the highest score in the past four years for the cohort 2023-24.

The score of Syracuse from 989 is again above the national average and marked the 13th year with an APR value of 982 or better.

Apr, which started in 2006, is the academic metric of the NCAA, which pursues the authorization, binding and completing student athletes. A score of 989 not only reflects the continuing efforts of athletes, trainers and academic employees, but also reaffirms the position of Syracuse as a leader in the academic success of the athlete.

“This performance reflects the commitment that our student athletes bring for both their sport and their studies,” says Tommy Powell, deputy provost for the academic development of athletes. “We are incredibly proud of this collective performance and grateful for the support of faculties, coaches and employees who enable this success.”

In addition to the overall success of the department, 11 teams achieved a perfect score of 1000 Apr of 1000, including women's basketball, men's cross, women's cross, women's ice hockey, men-lacrosse, women-lacrosse, women's football, softball, men's tracks, women's railways and volleyball. It is the seventh year in a row in which Syracuse received at least four of his programs perfect APR results.

The NCAA also pursues several years of APR. Women's basketball, women's cross and women's lacrosse also received a perfect multi-year values.

All Syracuse light athletics programs remain conveniently over the minimum APR standards of the NCAA and underline the holistic commitment of the university for the academic and personal development of their athletes.
