Otter Tail County prison inmates to get a video call option this summer – Perham Focus

Perham – Those who serve time in the Otter Tail County prison can soon be able to visit with family and friends through video calls.

During the meeting of the Otter Tail County Board on Tuesday, May 6th, the Sheriff of Otter Tail County Barry Fitzgibbons explained her current contract for communication providers in July. He said the new communication contract would offer tablets for inmates. Buy inmates time to use the tablets for a variety of things, be it a film rental, an SMS or a video search.

Fitzgibbons said that the prison currently does not offer its inmates to its inmates.

Fitzgibbons has been informed that the video call service automatically blurred the background so that the face of the inmate is the only thing that is in focus. He said the measure protects the security of the prison. Communication via the video call or text is also recorded and saved, unless the inmate speaks to his lawyer, said Fitzgibbons.

In addition to more opportunities for inmates to communicate with relatives, the provider also offers a library of online courses and supportive programs for inmates, said the sheriff.
