Nice weather until Saturday, trend cooler and wet next week

Jackson, Wyo. – The sunny sky and the warm temperatures will exist late this week in the 70s from Thursday to Saturday. From Sunday, the chances of the shower and thunderstorms come into the picture, with cooler temperatures and periods with rain and mountain snow in the following days.

Recent weather conditions

In the first week of May, warmer was performed as average temperatures and several mild and sunny days. The high temperature in Jackson reached 72ºF on Saturday, which is our warmest year so far.

However, we saw a short section of the wet conditions when a storm system moved to the western USA

On Sunday, showering and thunderstorms scattered in the afternoon and ultimately only produced slight amounts of precipitation together with strong winds.

On Monday, a stronger wave moved from the south/southeast through our area and brought a longer period with heavy rain and snow, which lasted a few hours in the afternoon and evening, together with a strong drop in temperature.

After reaching a high of 62 ° F on Monday afternoon in the early Monday afternoon shortly before the rain began, the temperatures in Jackson fell into the 1930s until late in the day. Rain even turned a little into the wet snow in the city, as the strong rain rates led to the freezer levels were lower than expected.

Although snow fell in the city, he never gathered on grass and increased surfaces in more than a muddy trace, since the air temperature remained above the freezing point. As soon as the precipitation quotas decreased a little, snow in the city turned back to the rain.

Jackson received a total of 0.72 inches (including melted snow) during the event on Monday.

Strong snow also fell into the mountains, with accumulation of 5 to 9 inches in the tetons over 8,000 feet, while the tip of the snow king received 2 inch snow.

Apart from the storm on Monday, the Mountain Snowpack met faster than normal in the first week of May, and the snow cover in the upper snake flow basin is 93% of the average (slightly below average) from May 7th.

The currently measured snow depth in the tetons from May 7th range from 75 to 95 inches at 9,500 feet and 48 to 55 inches at 8,000 feet, although depending on the aspect and sunlight, this varies depending on the aspect and sunlight.

Upcoming weather pattern

A high -pressure comb dominates the weather pattern from now to Saturday, which leads to beautiful weather conditions with plenty of sunshine and warmer temperatures.

On Wednesday in the afternoon, the temperatures in the low until the mid -1960s are around Jackson. Further warming is expected from Thursday to Saturday, with the heights reached in the 70s. Saturday looks like the warmest day of everyone when we could reach in the mid -1970s.

On Thursday there is an easy chance of a shower or a thunderstorm on the late day because a fault north of our area flows, but every rain will be light and stained. Friday and Saturday look totally dry.

The weather pattern begins to change on Sunday when a low point of low pressure from the West approaches. Sunday will be another warm day with heights in the 1970s, but the increase in moisture will lead to an increase in the cloud cover with the chance of showering and thunderstorms in the afternoon.

The temperatures will trend coolers from Monday when the trough moves in the interior.

The temperatures trend colder over time, and there is a good chance of snow in the mountains during this pattern. It would not be a big surprise if wet snow occasionally interferes with rain in Jackson and in the Lower Valley.

From Sunny and 70s to cold and wet in front of rain and snow … Classic Mai weather in Jackson!

Cooler and humid conditions could possibly stop at the end of next week and until the weekend from May 17th to 18th, whereby the NOAA outlook from NOAA favored under normal temperatures and above the normal precipitation.
