NTSB published preliminary report on the fatal helicopter accident, in which the family was killed from Spain, pilot from 5 years

New York City (WABC) – The National Transportation Safety Board published a preliminary report almost a month ago about the fatal crash of a sightseeing helicopter, which fell into the Hudson River almost a month ago.

Five members of a family from Spain were killed, including the pilot Sean Johnson when the helicopter fell into the water between Manhattan and Jersey City.

The six -sided report describes the path of the helicopter, who was doomed to fail, on the afternoon of April 10th when he left Wall Street shortly before 3 p.m.

The helicopter drove north to George Washington Bridge before broke apart about 625 to 650 feet above the Hudson River around 3:15 p.m.

The report says: “He suddenly separated into three main sections: fuselage, main rotor system and tail boom.”

The report also confirmed that the helicopter had not installed any recording devices.

The retired pilot and aviation expert JP Tristani burdened the report.

“This removed the fact that a blade was thrown and the helicopter lost control,” said Tristiani.

The report also revealed: “Photos of the pilot, who was taken shortly before the helicopter was taken, showed that he was wearing computer-aided sunglasses that had video and audio recording functions.”

The report found that the glasses were not recovered.

“I can't see where this specific glasses would have influenced his ability to fly the plane,” said Tristani.

The helicopter, who was doomed to fail, was on his eight sightseeing trip of the day.

It has had 50 flight hours since the last inspection.

Videos of eyewitnesses and the debris, which was recovered from the Hudson, were able to record the clues to explain what caused such a catastrophe.

“This becomes critical because it could simply contain maintenance supervision, a crack in the fuselage,” said Tristani.
