Yogyakarta, Indonesia – A dump truck crashed in a minibus on a downhill road in the Indonesian province of Central Java and killed 11 people, all kindergarten teachers, said officials on Wednesday.

The truck loaded with building materials collided with the minibus before crashing into a house in the village of Kalijambe in the Purwerejo district. The Minibus bore a group of teachers from the Magelang district who took part in a funeral in the Purwerejo district, the local disaster management agency said in a statement.

“The truck supposedly lost control and hit the minibus,” said Andry Agustiano, chief of police from Purwerejo. He added that the police opened an investigation immediately.

Several ambulances transported the corpses and other injured victims, including the truck driver and the owner of the house, to a nearby hospital.

Street accidents are common in Indonesia due to poor security standards and infrastructure.

On Tuesday, a bus with 34 passengers raced out of control and stormed in the Indonesian province of West Sumatra and killed at least 12 people.

Drone kills the Hamas officer in Lebanon

Beirut – An Israeli drone strike against a car in the South Libanon killed an official with the militant group of the Palestinian militant group early Wednesday, said the authorities.

Hamas said in a statement that Khaled Ahmad al-Maad, who was a member of his military wing, was killed when he was on the way to a mosque to take part in Dawn prayers.

The Israeli military confirmed that Al-Ahmad had targeted it, and said he was a commander at Hamas in South Libanon and was behind several attacks against Israel.

Since the Hamas attack on South Israel triggered the war on October 7, 2023, the military of Israel's members of the group in Lebanon targeted where the Hamas is militarily present.

The group has also carried out missile attacks from Lebanon since the beginning of the Israel Hamas War, and in the past few weeks the Lebanese authorities have imprisoned several men who were connected to Hamas because they suspected of shooting missiles towards Israel.

The Lebanese authorities warned the Hamas last week that they would be exposed to the “toughest measures” for all attacks from Lebanon.
