Illinois fights for Illini prospects of Ranking's rankings

The NBA design of 2025 could be a special time for the Illinois basketball program.

The fighting Illini and coach Brad Underwood is expected that two players designed two players from two Illinois players in the first round – something that has not happened in two decades.

Two Illini only went twice in the first round of the same NBA design: Deron Williams and Luther Head in 2005; And Nick Anderson and Kenny Battle in 1989.

International Wachen Kasparas Jakucionis and Will Riley could be next. They are one of the top prospects in the pool of potential weapons stands, each after 10 aggregated mock designs under the top 30, which were put together by Hoopshype of the USA Today Network.

10. Kasparas Jakucionis

According to Hoopshype, the 6-foot 5-lithuanian guard lies in the various shelf designs between 4th and 12th place in the various bills. In his only season, he scored an average of 15.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.7 templates. He shot a total of 44 percent and 31.8 to 3 points.

“Jakucionis is a large, qualified guard with an excellent point of view and an inpatient game,” wrote Hoopshype. “He can run an offensive or play the ball thanks to him that he is a willing shooter. If his shooting, shooting and defense catch up, he will be a reliable Lead Guard with all-star potential.”

A professional scout said to Hoopshype: “Kasparas has the vision, but the rough creator of the assist-to-turnover ratio in the best case-no franchise PG.”

28. Wants Riley

The 6-foot 8-Canadian guard is classified in 16th place in various signs, writes Hoopshype. He achieved an average of 12.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists in one season with the Illini. He shot a total of 43.2 percent and 32.6 percent from the 3-point range.

“Riley has an excellent size for a security guard, a smooth sweater and a feeling for the game,” writes Hoopshype. … “He does not have the ability to handle ball handling or the handover of being a floor general. Riley projects more as a swingman who can be a bind for a team. He is not the physical player, but if he develops as a ball handler and finish, he could earn a rotation point.”

A professional scout said: “The upward trend is there, but 185 LBS and hellishly streaked. Must play off-ball.”
