Asus Rog Ally 2 Lecks reveal bold redesign

Asus prepares to start Rog Ally 2And early leaks indicate that it could be one of the most polarizing handhelds of the year. The first pictures of the coming device have appeared online – and let's just say that the Internet already has opinions. The model of the slim, compact design of the original ROG ally looks with oversized handles and a silhouette that resembles a fusion between the PlayStation portal and a touchscreen-equipped GameCube controller. On the other hand, this chunkier form factor for long gaming sessions seems to be tailor-made with improved ergonomics.

Two color variants were discovered: one in white and one in black. According to FCC applications and hardware labels, the Black Model (RC73XA) packs serious electricity with an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip on the Zen 5 architecture with 8 cores and a 36W TDP. It also has a whopping 64 GB LPDDR5 -RAM, which runs at 8533 Mt/s, which makes it easy to make the most powerful handheld console that we have seen so far.

In the meantime, the white variant (RC73YA) seems to be geared towards budget -conscious players. It is powered by the AMD Aerith Plus chip, a successor to the van Gogh Apu of the Steam Deck with 4 cores and a 20 -W -TDP. The charging speeds also differ: 100 W for the black model and 65W for the white, which indicates larger batteries inside.

However, what the speculation really works is the presence of an Xbox brand button on the black unit. While the white console contains a similar button without branding, the badge of the black version promotes rumors about a deeper collaboration between Asus and Microsoft. Both devices are expected to run Windows 11, but there is a chatter about the black model, including a dedicated Xbox launcher or a game mode. If this is the case, this could signal a strategic step in order to strengthen the Xbox footprint in the handheld room to strengthen the current open source-friendly steam deck.

With regard to the design, the Ally 2 awakens the minimalist aesthetics of its predecessor in favor of the function. Thick bezel, strong handles and dual-USB-C connections emphasize the performance and versatility to the portability. The display seems to measure between 7.4 and 8 inches and now to support a smooth refresh rate of 120 Hz – an essential upgrade for liquid gameplay. However, as Mobilissimo found in its review of the ROG Ally X, the high-end performance can still be associated with a compromise: modest battery life, especially in the extreme variant of Ryzen Z2.

ASUS is expected to officially unveiled the ROG Ally 2 line in Computex 2025, but with detailed leaks and FCC documents, most of the main specifications are no longer a puzzle. One thing is clear: this becomes a love unit for love or hatred. Hardcore players will appreciate the RAW Power and Xbox synergia, while others can deter their profits and revised look. Nevertheless, Asus seems to be determined to question the steam decks like the steam deck, and Lenovo Legion go with a double strategy approach to specify a chassis, but two very different configurations for premium and medium-class buyers.

Would you supply the Xbox taste Ally 2 with electricity or remain a more budget-friendly white model?
