Two Texas A&M Aggies to take part in the NBA G League Elite Camp

The former striker of Texas A & M Aggies, Wade Taylor IV, and the recent transition agency Mackenzie Mgbako will take part in the NBA G League Elite Camp this weekend, said the G League this week.

The showcase takes place from Friday to Sunday in the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. The G-Liga describes it as “a three-day event with which NBA draft gives the opportunity to demonstrate its skills in front of the NBA and NBA G-Liga scouts, coaches and managers from Front-Office”. Some of the top performers receive invitations to the NBA Draft Combine, which will also take place in the Wintrust Arena from 11th to May 18th.

In his four years at A&M, Taylor became one of the best players who ever wore an Aggies jersey. He holds the program record with 2,058 career points (14.6 per game) and let his number increase the rafters in his last game in the Reed Arena. The native of Dallas has also been an all-second selection of the first team in the last three seasons.

Taylor, who goes in peace, would be enough to give the aggies a completely different identity, but this is anything but the only change that the team saw in this low season. Almost all important contributors of the Aggies entered the transfer portal after head coach Buzz Williams in Maryland accepted the same job. Some of them even followed him on the east coast.

The new head coach Bucky McMillan has again brought a variety of players across the transfer portal, and MGBAKO is the biggest addition to everyone. Born in Gladstone, New Jersey, an average of 12.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game scored, while in his two seasons in Indiana, he scored 41.5 percent off the field. He was also the big ten newcomer of the year in 2024.

MGBAKO has to withdraw its name from the NBA draft by June 15 to play for the aggies, but it is a safe assumption that he will do so in good time. However, he seems to keep his options open to his future.
