The election commission (EC) has suspended the NID verification services for the Ansar VDP and Brac Bank after they had found credible evidence of national identity data leaks.

“The services [access to the NID verification services] were suspended for the two organizations after they had found credible evidence of data leaks, “said ASM Humayun Kabir, General Director of EC, while today (May 7) spoke to reporters in his office.

The NID data has also been leaked by several other organizations in the past.

Humayun said the EC regularly monitored data access and yesterday found the recent leak from Ansar-VDP and Brac Bank. “After the proper review, we have suspended your access in accordance with the authority's decision.”
