Lt. Paul Overstreet with the Robertsdale police was on trial because of the proceedings. He was also the leading investigator and remembered the fateful Father's Day in June 2023.

“Very, very devastating scene. One of the worst scenes I have ever experienced in my career,” said Overstreet.

Two families from the Birmingham area visited the coast and were located at the Baldwin Beach Express when David Colburn from Elberta brought one of her vehicles to the center of the streets to the south and sent him on the accommodation through the median, where a second vehicle was hit. Four people died, including Tim and Jeanna Speegle from Trussville and Christie and Maggie Lowe from Pelham.

The blood alcohol content of Colburn was more than twice as high as the legal limit. He was charged with four charges for manslaughter, attacks and DUI and has been in Baldwin County prison for 210,000 US dollars since then. The case ended on Thursday, just a little more than a month shy compared to the second anniversary of the tragedy with a plea.

“I have the feeling that justice has happened and I have the feeling that the families I would say have the greatest authority.

David Colburn, now 62, is owed to two cases of homicide and an attack size for the weakening injuries to a fifth victim when crashed. The judge of the Baldwin County Circuit Court, Clark Stankoski, directed the hearing and sentenced Colburn to 20 years in prison. Overstreet said that Tim and Jeanna Speegle's son spoke to the court.

“Mr. Speegle wanted to communicate on behalf of the family that she awarded Mr. Colburn for what he did for the actions on this day for the devastation he had caused,” said Overstreet.

Overstreet said David Colburn apologized for his actions and looked shortly after the family. The family is also determined to follow the efforts to adopt new laws that they started with the 363 budget last year. Among other things, she would create stiff penalties for repeated DUI offenders.
