Fund Drive for cow with eye injury in Craven County

Craven County, NC (Witn) – Brandy was found on Wednesday afternoon by Craven County Animal Protective Services Officers, which were next to a fence with serious eye injury.

Now she is wearing a fly mask and bandages to cover up the damage.

The officials drove on the way when they found the cattle farm on which Brandy was kept.

“We tried to get in touch with someone in the household. With a further glance we saw something that looked red on her face. We thought it was a ulcer at first glance, but it was blood that dripped out of her eye,” said Michaela Baatz, officer of Craven County's animal welfare services.

But brandy was not alone; Another cow named Monica was also picked up by the same farm.

“It is only heartbreaking to see animals in this state. We don't want to see that, so we always try to help as much as possible,” says Baatz.

Some of the officers gathered together and received a horse trailer to bring Brandy and Monica to the craven-Pamlico County animal shelter, where the two can receive the veterinary care that they urgently need.

“Not to know whether it is growth or just an earlier injury, we will treat it as a injury and see how it works and a determination a little later will hit whether euthanasia is in her best interest,” says Dr. Tanya Osler, Veterinary Director of Craven-Pamlico County,.

While Brandy and Monica receive medical care in medical care, says Dr. Osler and Baatz, Brandy are doing better and will stay in the shelter until she has completely recovered.

“So far she hangs in there. She is doing really well. We hope for the best forecast for her. We have a veterinarian back in a week to check it again to see how this wound works,” says Baatz.

Baatz and Osler say that they accept donations about the friends of the Craven County Sheriff's Office to pay Brandy's ongoing medical editions.

Baatz says the cows were handed over to them by the owner and it is currently an ongoing examination.
