CBS News turned to the White House to get a comment. An official from the library's congress also confirmed Hayden's dismissal on CBS News.

“The White House informed the librarian of Congress Carla Hayden that it was relieved of its position,” said the official.

The move was blown up by Hakeem Jeffries, the minority leader of the Democratic House, who has released the “unjust decision, Dr. Hayden in an e -mail that was sent by a random political hack, and the latest efforts to prohibit the American history of WhiteWash American and the clock back.

Hayden has been a librarian of the congress since 2016. She was the first woman and African American to hold the position.

“Personally, it means being a person of color because people who look like me were legally prohibited to learn reading” told CBS News in an interview in 2020. “That means so much that here is a person with color that leads the largest library in the world.”

Before taking the post office, she was the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, Maryland from 1993 to 2016.

The democratic MP Joe Morelle from New York, the racing member of the committee for property management, named dismissal as a “ignorant decision” that “the America's libraries will influence, our copyrighted economic interests and the service to the American people by threatening support for the congress. His decision is a complete shame.”
