Welcome to Bracketology Friday.

The WPIAL Softball and Lacrosse committees released their playoff matchups on Thursday. Now baseball and boy volleyball will bring the spotlight on Friday.

In the baseball, 80 district teams will compete six championships.

While North Allegheny in 6a, Penn-Trafford in 5a and Avonworth in 3a are looking for repetitions of the titles they won in 2024, Seton Lasalle and Bishop Canevin are looking for the rare three-goal.

For Bishop Canevin, no WPial team has ever won three baseball championships in class A in a row.

Seton Lasalle won his two titles in class 2a in 2023-2024, but the rebels compete in 3A this off-season. No team has ever won three baseball championships in a row in two different classifications.

Penn-Trafford also tries to write history and become first class 5A team that wins Wpial crowns in a row.

Visit us while we break down the 2025 WPial clips during the baseball playoff pairings at 3 p.m. on the trib HSSN.

Baseball is not the only spring sport in which the playoff clips are published by the WPIA on Friday.

The Nach season tournaments of the District Boys volleyball are also published.

Due to the increase in the number of district teams this spring, one of the largest playoff fields will begin in the history of sport next week.

There are 14 teams from class 3a that have qualified, while 12 come in the four sections in class 2a.

The two top seeds in the 3A playoffs receive the first round and the four best seeds in the 2A tournament will bring byes to the quarter -finals.

Shaler won back-to-back 3a title, but the titans are now in the 2A playoff field together with the defending champion Mars.
