Cass County sees the overall crime, the start

Fargo – The Cass County's office says that the overall crime has decreased, but has increased according to the annual crime report of 2024 in 2024.

Sheriff Jesse Jahner described an increased commitment and feedback from the community to help MPs build stronger relationships in rural areas, which contributed to the general decline in crime.

However, the report also showed an increase in fraud and sexual abuse of children. Jahner said the fraud rose nationwide and many fraudsters use difficult to pursue online methods to aim for victims.

The increase in internet crimes against children was connected to the Sheriff's office, in which these investigations were assigned a full -time officer.

“This type of knowledge in the in -house has also contributed to raising school resource officials,” said Jahner. “If you work together in our schools, in our rural schools and in our children, you can help you offer your training so that you do not fall victim to someone who wants to take advantage of a child in this way.” And that was really very advantageous for us. “

A leap was also taken in mental health professions, with the MPs carried out 6,000 other mental health reviews in 2024 than in the previous year. Jahner said many of these calls were associated with drug use.

While fentanyl -related cases are falling, the seizures of medicinal products rose in 2024.

Jahner said his office focused on stopping narcotics before reaching people who have to fight addiction.

“We try to get more ban on narcotics before it falls into the hands of people who have addiction problems and try to contain some of the overdoses that we have in our communities,” he said.

Jahner also noticed the availability of Narcan, a medication that reverses opioid overdoses, has contributed to preventing fatal overdoses.
